Maybank Group Acquires BinaFikir
On 27 August 2008, Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) announced the acquisition of BinaFikir Sdn Bhd (‘BinaFikir’) by its investment banking arm,
Maybank Investment Bank Berhad ('Maybank IB', formerly known as Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad). The acquisition was completed on 11 November 2008, and BinaFikir is now a company of the Maybank Group.
Mohammed Rashdan Yusof (better known as Danny) has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer (‘CEO’) of
Maybank IB and is now the Chairman of BinaFikir.
Feisal Zahir is now Head of Investment Banking of Maybank IB and remains a Director of BinaFikir. Chew Liong Kim, former Managing Partner of Arthur Andersen Business Consulting and
founder of HRM Business Consulting Sdn Bhd, has been appointed as the new Managing Director for BinaFikir.
BinaFikir’s existing mandates will continue, with no disruption of services provided to our clients. In this regard, BinaFikir is of the view that the mandates will receive a boost from the additional resources and extensive breadth and depth of financial services available at the Maybank Group.
We believe that BinaFikir will be able to enhance the current services and value provided by the Maybank Group, the largest banking and financial services group in Malaysia.
