Chew Liong Kim (Managing Director).  Kim joined BinaFikir in November 2008 and assumed the position of Managing Director, taking over from Rashdan. He is also the Head of Strategic Advisory in Maybank IB.

Prior to this, Kim was the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dataprep Holdings Bhd (‘Dataprep’), a position he held from February 2004 to June 2008. He implemented a corporate transformation exercise that uplifted Dataprep from PN17 status and positioned it for future growth.

Kim has more than 22 years of experience in senior professional management and financial consultancy throughout Asia Pacific, covering public sector privatisation and policy studies, Government-linked companies (‘GLC’) and private enterprises transformation, technology implementation and change management for large clients. His previous positions held include Executive Chairman and Founder of HRM Business Consulting Sdn Bhd from July 2002 to June 2008, Asia Pacific Managing Partner covering 12 countries and Country Managing Director for Andersen Business Consulting from the period September 1990 to June 2002, and Principal for Hanafiah Raslan Mohamad Sdn Bhd from July 1987 to August 1990.

Notable professional consulting experiences include directing an international team of consultants that planned and negotiated with Malaysia’s Economic Planning Unit (‘EPU’) on Tanjung Pelepas (a world class container port project), directing two separate studies on Technical Assistance funded by Asian Development Bank that studied 8 intermediate services industry sectors in Malaysia and Indonesia, leading a team for three separate Privatisation Master Plan Studies for the Governments of Malaysia, Thailand and Egypt, directing a group-wide performance management/KPI system for the largest telecommunications company in Malaysia, advising on performance improvement and change management initiatives for Telekom Malaysia Bhd, Perwaja Steel Bhd, Malaysia Airports Bhd, PLUS Bhd and KLIA Bhd and managing an EPU study to introduce competition into the power generation sector of Malaysia.

Kim is a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and a registered Cost and Management Accountant with the New Zealand Society of Accountants. His first degree is a Bachelor of Commerce from Auckland University (New Zealand). He is also licensed as a Capital Market Services Representative with the Securities Commission.
