Mohammed Rashdan Yusof (Chairman & Co-founder).  Rashdan was one of the two co-founders of BinaFikir Sdn Bhd in 2002, and was its Managing Director from 1 June 2004 onwards. He has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad (‘Maybank IB’, formerly known as Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad) since 1 November 2008 and thus relinquished his role as Managing Director of BinaFikir, assuming instead the role of Chairman in the Board of Directors for BinaFikir.

His experience portfolio whilst in BinaFikir encompassed strategic advisory, corporate and industry restructuring and structured products. He was instrumental in the design of the innovative restructuring solution for MAS in 2002, widely known as the Widespread Asset Unbundling (‘WAU’) restructuring. The WAU restructuring solution won the Deal of the Year 2002 from The Edge and the Asian Corporate Finance Deal of the Year 2002 from AirFinance Journal. He was the Lead Director in other major restructuring projects such as the Klang Valley Public Transportation Restructuring (‘INSPAK’) and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (‘MAHB’). The MAHB restructuring involves an unprecedented Public-Private Partnership framework which balances both shareholder value and public interests. He was also the Lead Director in BinaFikir’s engagement with Multimedia Development Corporation (‘MDeC’), in which BinaFikir performed a holistic and strategic review of the company, and advised the Board of MDeC on a new business and funding model.

Prior to BinaFikir, Rashdan accumulated more than ten years experience in audit and business advisory services in PricewaterhouseCoopers (‘PwC’), specialising in financial services with his clients being predominantly financial institutions and large multi-nationals. He left PwC Malaysia as an Executive Director in the Assurance & Business Advisory Services (‘ABAS’) division and Leader of the Financial Risk Management (‘FRM’) group.

Rashdan holds a ‘double First Class’ honours degree from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) in Economics. He is licensed as a Capital Market Services Representative with the Securities Commission, as well as an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (‘ICAEW’) and an Associate Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (‘ACT’).
